Microliter syringes are for use with liquids only. They incorporate a hand-fitted stainless steel plunger with a finely bored syringe barrel. These syringes are ideal for homogeneous samples that are not prone to precipitation or bonding with glass.
Under the proper conditions, plunger wear is minimal and the life of a Microliter syringe is almost unlimited. However, when using heterogeneous solutions with a Microliter syringe, the user must be especially diligent about cleaning the syringe after each use. For more information, see the Hamilton Syringe Care and Use Guide on properly maintaining your syringes.
In some cases, even diligent cleaning is not sufficient and the barrel will become soiled. The deposits on the glass will compromise the tight tolerances between the glass and the plunger resulting in a frozen plunger. Plungers for Microliter syringes cannot be interchanged or replaced if damaged. For heterogeneous solutions, a Gastight syringe is the best option.
Microliter 600 Series Syringes
The 600 series syringes are a half stroke version of the original 700 series syringes. This series of syringes is ideal for dispensing volumes from 0.25 μL up to 5 μL. The 600 series is often used in applications that require one handed operation because of the short stroke length and the reinforced plunger.
Microliter 700 Series Syringes
The 700 series syringe is the original hand-fitted Hamilton syringe. This series of syringes is ideal for dispensing volumes from 0.5 μL up to 500 μL. A variety of different terminations and needle options are available in this series.
Microliter 800 Series Syringes
The 800 series syringes are the reinforced plunger version of the original 700 series syringes. Attached to the flange of the syringe is a blue Syringe Holder. The Syringe Holder provides a spot to hold the syringe that will not heat up the barrel causing dispense inaccuracies. Additionally it provides support to small volume plungers that are prone to bending during injection. This series of syringes is ideal for dispensing volumes from 0.5 μL up to 250 μL. A variety of different terminations and needle options are available in this series.
Modified Microliter 7000 Series Syringes
The 7000 series syringes are considered modified Microliter syringes for their unique design. This series of syringes is ideal for dispensing volumes from 0.05 μL up to 5 μL. The 7000 series is the only zero dead volume syringe. The fine gauge plunger wire travels to the tip of the needle ensuring that all solvent is expelled from the needle.
